The sources below have different terms and accuracy limits. FieldNorth keeps the ODOT and OpenStreetMap milepost datasets separate.

Oregon Department of Transportation

Oregon physical milepost positions and highway names: Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). FieldNorth derives a compact offline Oregon pack directly from ODOT’s Mileposts service. See the dataset metadata and ODOT Geoportal disclaimer. ODOT describes the information as public and says it may be distributed or copied, requesting appropriate credit; the metadata lists no access or use constraints.

Download FieldNorth’s machine-readable ODOT-derived Oregon pack. It contains only physical marker coordinates, ODOT highway names, and sign legends. ODOT highway names are not necessarily the signed Interstate or US route names. ODOT provides no warranty for accuracy, reliability, or completeness.

OpenStreetMap

The separate Oregon OpenStreetMap milemarker snapshot is adapted from a Geofabrik Oregon extract. Oregon Valhalla road-graph state packs are also built from a dated Geofabrik Oregon extract. Data © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. Download the machine-readable adapted OSM milemarker pack. ODbL applies to OSM-derived databases, not to the FieldNorth app code or the separate ODOT dataset.

Valhalla and valhalla-mobile

FieldNorth’s optional offline roadway-matching state pack uses valhalla-mobile and Valhalla. The software is provided under the MIT License:

Apple services

Apple provides the map display, device location services, and address/geocoding results used by FieldNorth. ODOT and OpenStreetMap do not provide the Apple basemap. Apple’s own service terms govern those services.

Important accuracy limits

A displayed milepost identifies a mapped physical marker near a recent, accurate GPS fix. It does not establish your exact current milepoint, roadway, travel direction, or distance to the sign. A parallel road may be nearby. Confirm the roadside marker, GPS coordinates, and other reliable sources before relying on the display.

Only Oregon milepost packs are bundled in the current build. Other states may have no milepost data. Offline packs can become outdated. A missing marker is omitted rather than invented.
